Happy New (Academic) Year Laker Nation! Welcome and welcome back to all of our new and returning Lakers. We look forward to serving you this semester and supporting you in all of your research endeavors, whether you’re gathering resources for your thesis or facts to share in your next viral TikTok.

Library Access

The Library remains open 6 days a week, with a few changes. We will be open longer on Sundays and the Lower Level will be closed on Fridays. Additionally, while reservations are required for study rooms and computers, you won’t have to check in and out of your reservation*.

*exception: Community members not affiliated with Clayton State will need to register at the front desk for computer access.

Our hours this semester are as follows:

  • The Upper Level hours will be Monday – Thursday 8AM- 10PM, Friday 8AM to 5 PM, and Sunday 12PM to 9PM.
  • The Lower Level hours will be Monday – Thursday 8AM- 10PM and Sunday 12PM to 9PM.
  • Virtual support will be available Monday – Thursday 8AM- 10PM, Friday 8AM to 5 PM, and Sunday 12PM to 9PM.

Virtual support is available by phone, email, text, chat, or online meetings via Teams. All methods of support are available through the “Research Help” tab on the Library website. Additionally, students and faculty are encouraged to reach out to their assigned liaison for specialized support and recommended resources in their academic area.

Borrowing Items

When the Lower Level is open, users may browse the circulating collection to find books to check out. Users may still request library materials in advance for pick-up by clicking “Catalog” on the Library website and following the guidance under “Request Library Materials.” Items requested in advance or through InterLibrary Lending (ILL, GIL Express, and ARCHE) may be picked up at the Lower Level Circulation Desk.

Laptops are available for use on the Upper Level of the library.  Students may borrow and return laptops at the Reference Desk.

Food in the Library

We strive to provide a comfortable and conducive environment to study for our students, staff, faculty, and visitors. Understanding that food is essential to good health and learning, food and beverages are allowed in most public areas with some exceptions. Snack foods, like those available in vending machines, are permitted in the library, while meals or foods that may cause excessive smell, mess, or aroma, e.g. salad, pizza, popcorn, should be enjoyed outside of the library. Full details are available in our Food & Beverage Policy.

New this semester

In response to patron feedback, we’ve made an additional room available for solo study. Patrons wanting a space to conduct a remote interview, take a test, or study in private may reserve Room L222 for up to three hours. All other rooms, except the One-Button-Studio, require a minimum of at least 2 people to reserve. Reservation guidelines and room capacity are listed on the reservation booking page.
